Balluminescence
The life and death of,
Balluminescence
Balluminescence, The Life and Death of, is a project conceived by Willy Chyr to construct a series of five sculptures of bioluminescent creatures using only balloons and decorating them with light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
The sculptures are exhibited periodically in the University of Chicago's Biological Sciences Learning Center (924 E. 57th St.) during spring of 2009. The first balluminescent sculpture - The Comb Jelly - was on exhibit from April 17 to April 28. Visit the gallery for pictures of the sculpture.
The next sculpture will go up on May 17 and will also be displayed in the Biological Sciences Learning Center.
For more information, or to find out how you can get involved with this project, please contact Willy Chyr at chyr@uchicago.edu.
This project was made possible by a grant from the University of Chicago Arts Council.
